① Ōtenmon / Daigokuden

Special lighting for Ōtenmon and Daigokuden—iconic structures of Heian Shrine. The magnificent architecture rises into the night sky, elegantly staging spring evenings.

② Minami Shin'en

Special night illumination of the cherry blossoms in the famed Minami Shin'en garden. Enjoy a fantastical spring scenery.

③ Higashi Shin'en

A concert to color spring nights will be held at Higashi Shin'en and the Kihinkan. Cherry blossoms reflected on the water harmonize with the music, creating an elegant moment.

About Tickets

  • Held rain or shine. However, the event may be cancelled in severe weather or heavy rain.
    (Tickets for cancelled dates will be valid for a following date, or refunded. If the final date is cancelled, refunds will be issued.)
  • For guests with a disability certificate and one accompanying person, admission is possible with one ticket for Admission Tickets and Admission + Concert Tickets.
    After purchasing an advance ticket, please email benishidare@mb.kyoto-np.co.jp in advance with your name / companion name / purchased ticket details (date, and Part 1 or Part 2 for concert tickets). On the day, please come to the general reception.
    We will confirm your disability certificate at reception.
    If purchasing a same-day ticket, please bring your certificate and come to the general reception.

About Viewing

  • One-way traffic is generally enforced within the venue.
  • If you have an Admission + Concert Ticket and wish to view Minami Shin'en after the concert, re-entry is permitted.
    Please re-enter via the Ōtenmon entrance.
    Final re-entry is 8:45 PM.
    Re-entry to Higashi Shin'en is not permitted.
  • When admission begins for the concert area (Part 1: from 6:15 PM, Part 2: from 7:35 PM), staff will guide guests into Higashi Shin'en in the order of the ticket number.
    Same-day ticket holders will be guided after advance ticket holders. Thank you for your understanding.

    [Part 1] After admission begins, you may view Minami Shin'en first and then come to Higashi Shin'en, but you may not arrive in time for the performance, so please be aware in advance.
    After viewing the concert, you may re-enter via the Ōtenmon entrance and enjoy Minami Shin'en.

    [Part 2] When Part 2 admission begins (from 7:35 PM), please come to the concert entrance.
    You may view Minami Shin'en until admission begins.
    If you wish to view Minami Shin'en after Part 2, please re-enter via the Ōtenmon entrance by 8:45 PM.

  • Photography/video is allowed in the gardens; however, during the concert in Higashi Shin'en, photographing/filming the stage and artists, or recording audio is prohibited unless otherwise announced.
    Tripods/monopods by non-staff are not permitted, and cannot be brought into the venue.
  • During the performance, please refrain from talking loudly, phone ringtones and calls, or unnecessary movement that may disturb other guests.
    Continuous singing or cheering at a volume that disturbs other guests is not permitted.
  • Please refrain from bringing or using penlights, glow sticks, etc.
  • The Kihinkan in Higashi Shin'en—used as the stage—is surrounded by Seihō Pond.
    Viewing from the pondside may make the stage difficult to see. Thank you for your understanding.

Other

  • Admission Tickets and Admission + Concert Tickets cannot be used for daytime garden viewing.
    Daytime viewing requires a separate admission fee (600 yen).
  • Entry may be temporarily restricted if the venue becomes crowded.
  • Smoking and eating/drinking are prohibited inside the venue.
  • There is no parking at Heian Shrine.
    Please use city bus or subway to access the venue.
  • The venue is designated as an Important Cultural Property and a Place of Scenic Beauty. Please help us protect the cultural assets.
    Entering prohibited areas such as inside garden fences (alarms will sound), and bringing pets or dangerous items is not allowed.
